Dead inventory meaning8/11/2023 Slow-moving inventory can be problematic in a few ways.Slow moving inventory are inventoried items (both raw materials and finished goods) that have minimal customer demand based on the quantity on hand for a period of typically six months or greater. Why Is Slow-Moving Inventory Problematic? In that case, sales may not have slowed at all it's just that you made a decision that rendered the 90-day rule inappropriate. For example, if your business has a rule that inventory taking more than 90 days to sell is slow-moving, but 91 days ago a supplier offered a fantastic deal on a huge bulk purchase, you may have pushed that product category into the "slow-moving" definition on purpose by securing a great price and being willing to hold onto more units to sell over a longer period of time. Second, the slow-moving inventory may just be an artifact of how the business identifies it. If marketing isn't reaching the right customers, that requires a different solution than if prices are too high. It's important to identify the cause of slow-moving inventory for two reasons. Offers may become uncompetitive over time, or a business's tried-and-true marketing channels may no longer reach its customers - for example, if its customers are aging but it is still marketing through the channels that reached them when they were young. A product that was once "hot" may go out of fashion or be replaced by another. If the business sells big-ticket items like cars and refrigerators, economic downturns and anxieties can cause customers to delay purchases. A new competitor or substitute for a product could be drawing customers away. Good inventory management software is indispensable to every step of slow-moving inventory solutions - identifying which products are moving slowly, figuring out why and crafting the appropriate response.Ī business could find its inventory moving slowly for a number of reasons. When responding to slow-moving-inventory, finding the underlying cause is the most important first step - each possibility listed in the previous bullet requires a different response.Inventory can become slow-moving for a variety of reasons, from changing seasons to tougher competition, poor marketing or deteriorating sales channels. But fast-forward another technology generation or two and that model may be completely obsolete. That old model may have just become slow-moving. Most people will want the new one, but some will prefer the old one because it's familiar or to save money. Think of technology products when a new version comes out. At first, it can be hard to tell if inventory is slow-moving or becoming obsolete, and often a product that becomes obsolete will spend some time as slow-moving inventory first. Obsolete inventory, sometimes called "excess inventory" or " dead stock," is inventory that customers don't want and the business believes it won't ever sell. Companies that go this route put boundaries in place like, "Trigger an alert if sales go Y% below the slowest sales month for this product in the last two years" or - if the company is confident about its demand forecasting abilities - “Anything more than Z% below the bottom of our forecasted sales range.” These are the main ways of defining and identifying slow-moving inventory other ways are discussed below. This method of identifying slow-moving inventory can be trickier, though, because there's not a convenient hard cutoff. If a company knows roughly how many units it should be selling each week or month, it can look at the rate of sales for a product instead of time spent in inventory, which will give it an earlier heads up than inventory metrics. But a business selling baked goods or dairy products certainly can't keep items on shelves for 80 days and expect them to remain viable for sale.Įven some companies whose products don't spoil can't wait 90 days to determine whether inventory is slow-moving or not. Common definitions say things like, “inventory that's been in stock for over X days” where X is usually 90 or 120 or 180. That may sound too vague to be helpful, but truth is that "slow-moving" is going to be defined differently for different industries, companies, and even for different products within the same company. Slow-moving inventory is inventory that's taking a long time to sell. Knowing how to identify slow-moving products in your business, find the underlying cause and address the problem is an important skill set to have when selling physical products. The challenge is knowing what to do about it, since the reasons sales may slow for a particular product can vary significantly - and the solution must match the cause. Slow-moving inventory is a problem many businesses deal with from time to time. East, Nordics and Other Regions (opens in new tab)

When working with wood, the type of wood you use has different looks and worth. When full, production stops completely and the workshop floor turns red. This increasingly reduces efficiency and slows production until the workshop is completely full. Unless a stockpile for completed items is set up the items crafted will pile up on the workshop floor. Your gnome will then move to manufacture the second item repeatedly until the first falls below the limit set. You can prevent this by using the Craft To command to have the first item manufactured up to a specific quantity. This means that if you put two items on Repeat assigned gnomes will never craft the second item if they never run out of supplies for the first. Gnomes working at the shop will start at the top of the list, completing each task and skipping to the next as the materials needed run out. John newton8/11/2023 We extract the account from his own narrative:. His conversion to Christianity occurred on his return homewards from the coast of Africa, when the ship was overtaken by a dreadful storm, and death seemed to be inevitable. At home, abroad, on the mighty deep, or on foreign shores, he carried with him the marks of his servitude, the taint of his corruption, and the visible wrath of an offended God. His guilt was equalled only by his misery. With time his conscience began to bother him. He subsequently engaged in the slave-trade on the coast of Sierra Leone, Africa, where his conduct awakened, even among the slaves, emotions of alarm and astonishment. Having deserted his ship, he was overtaken, kept in irons, publicly whipped, and degraded from his office. Here he was seduced into infidel principles by one of his companions, who in a violent storm was swept into eternity, while he himself was mercifully spared. Harwich, a 50-gun man-of-war, on 4th March, 1744. His early life seems to present a mingled detail of religious duties and declensions - relapses into sin, accompanied by strong convictions of his guilt and danger - providential warnings, which roused his conscience for a time, and were subsequently forgotten till at length, by successive instances of grieving God's Holy Spirit, he sank into the very depths of wickedness. In 1743 he was impressed, put on board a tender, from which he was released by the exertions of his father, and soon after entered the navy as a midshipman - on the "H.M.S. When he was 11 years old he joined his father, and made five voyages with him to the Mediterranean. Her premature death deprived him at the age of 7 of this excellent superintending care. His mother was a pious character and it is to her that he was indebted, in his early years, for those religious impressions which, however subsequently weakened, were probably never wholly effaced. His father was master of a ship in the Mediterranean trade. John Newton, author of "Amazing Grace", was born in London the 24th of July, 1725.

Bioshock infinite burial at sea time8/11/2023 Anyway, Atlas threatens to kill Sally which is why Elizabeth agrees to help him get him and his followers back to the city. It’s a bit complicated but after thinking very hard about it, it kind of made sense to me. She has these visions of Booker who instructs her how to talk to these guys and while she lost her omniscience, she still has Booker with her… who’s not really there but uh… Elizabeth effectively returned to a universe in Chapter 1 where she was killed which meant that all the other alternate versions of herself have collapsed, hence disabling her ability to open tears to other universes and removing her power to see through all tears. It kind of explains the story of Bioshock Infinite, or rather the beginning, as Booker called Elizabeth Anna for whatever reason… and he later killed Comstock but at the end, Elizabeth showed him that he’s actually Comstock himself… Anyway! Idyllic at first, in flames later!Ĭhapter 2, Elizabeth wakes from a nightmare of Paris in flames to find herself captured by Atlas (aka Frank Fontaine). After realising all of that again and remembering, Booker/Comstock apologizes to Elizabeth and she kills him using a Big Daddy. That one, Anna, would later become Elizabeth but it turns out that she died and Comstock had the Lutece twins send him to Rapture where he lost his memories and reassumed his identity of Booker DeWitt. Because he had no children, he enlisted the Lutece twins to help him secure an infant named Anna from another version of DeWitt. After all, Booker went by the name of Zachary Hale Comstock before and founded the floating city of Columbia. At Fontaine’s, we look for Sally, fight through hordes of crazed Fontaine followers, find Sally, and… we remember.įinally, we remember what happened after Bioshock Infinite. Either way, there we learn that Sally is not dead and that we can find her in the Fontaine Department Store – that place, however, was sunk and cut off by Andrew Ryan to serve as a prison for the followers of Frank Fontaine, his competitor that is believed dead. Since we’re Booker, we obviously take on the job, sneak our way into different shops to acquire a mask that grants us access to our favourite mad artist’s place where we confront Sander Cohen! I can’t believe he was mad before the events of Bioshock 1 as well. We have no recollection of the events of Bioshock Infinite and a more mature and hardboiled version of Elizabeth walks into our office asking us to look for a Little Sister called Sally and to rescue her. After the events of Bioshock Infinite and after a whole ordeal about billions of alternate universes and possibilities that all are connected, we essentially are back there in the role of Booker DeWitt taking up another job. Alas,… Infinite does glimpse at Rapture before the DLC btw.īIG FAT SPOILER WARNING! You’ve been warned.īurial at Sea Chapter 1 brings us back to Rapture on December 31st, 1958. What I do recommend however is to read my post on Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2 because why not plug it here as well? Either way, in this post I’ll first go into the story/plot for Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 before I discuss gameplay stuff that I liked/disliked. If you haven’t played Bioshock Infinite’s Burial at Sea Chapter 1 and/or 2 yet, I highly recommend not reading ahead as there will be a lot of spoilers in regards to the story and all of that. Thanks a lot! Either way, Burial at Sea is essentially two extra chapters for the game that really round out the story… and because I felt like it deserved another post, I wanted to write about it as a 10.5 post, I guess? We did that on stream, and through the power of friendship and Twitch, someone gifted me the Burial at Sea DLCs for the full experience. So, back in May, I played through Bioshock Infinite and I loved it! It was great.

Drone camera 4k8/11/2023 Upgraded HDR capabilities are also included featuring 12.6 exposure stops for photos. The drone also features a maximum flight time of 31 minutes, and allows up to 12km (7.45 mi) 1080p resolution transmission with OcuSync 3. The Air 2S features a 1 inch CMOS camera capable of shooting 20- megapixel JPEG and RAW photos and up to 10-bit 5.4K video at a maximum frame of 30 FPS as well as 4K video at a maximum frame rate of 60 FPS. The updated version of the Mavic Air 2, now rebranded DJI Air 2S, dropping the Mavic name, was unveiled by DJI on 15 April 2021 and was designed to feature improvements to the Mavic Air 2 released on April 27 2020. Mavic Air 2 has a safety feature that warns users about nearby planes and helicopters via its controller. In terms of filming, Air 2 supports RAW format, 48MP mode, HDR video, and Hyperlapse 240fps slow-motion mode. It also offers a better range of up to 10 kilometers. This promises less interference from ambient Wi-Fi networks. But the Mavic Air 2 upgrades to Ocusync 2.0, a dedicated radio system that runs in the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz ranges (the system works in single and dual-band mode, 5.8 GHz is not supported in all regions). The original Mavic Air uses an enhanced Wi-Fi radio control system. This resembles the mounting on the controller for the Anafi, a Mavic Air competitor made by DJI's French rival, Parrot. Detailed illustrations for the new controller show a mount that holds the smartphone at the top, more in line of view. DJI's standard controller mounts a cellphone at the bottom, requiring the operator to look down while watching the screen. The remote controller of Air 2 features a new design of the Mavic family. Air 2 has a 1/2 inch CMOS camera, 34 min flight time per battery, can travel up to 68.4 km/h. Everything else is basically similar to a Mini 2.ĭJI released the new Air series member known as Air 2 on April 27, 2020. It is basically a Mini 2 with a downgraded camera from 4K to a 2.7K. The DJI Mini 2 also uses Ocusync 2.0 giving it a max transmission range of 10 km.ĭJI released the Mini 2 SE on February 9th, 2023. It also has the ability to take raw 12MP photos. It has 5 quickshot modes, 3 panorama modes, HD, 2.7k and 4k video. Weighing in at 249g, the Mini 2 can withstand level 5 winds. Mini 2 and Mini 2 SE ĭJI Mini 2, released November 2020, improves upon the Mavic Mini with longer flight time (31 minutes) and the ability to record 4K footage. Its main purpose was to be a successor for the old Dji Mini as the cheapest drone option. It has 30 minutes flight time, 12MP still camera, 2.7K video, and a 4 km transmission range as it uses Enhanced Wifi like the DJI Mavic Mini. Installed camera identifies in Exif as FC7203.ĭJI Mini SE, released mid-2021, is basically the original DJI Mini build in DJI Mini 2 shell. It has a range of 4 km as it uses Enhanced Wifi. In Japan, a model was released with a smaller battery weighing 50 grams (1.8 oz) less, to come in under Japan's similar 200 grams (7.1 oz) limit. DJI's marketing behind the Mavic Mini focuses on the weight of the drone at 249 grams (8.8 oz), allowing it to bypass drone registration regulations in several western countries like the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. The Mavic Mini shares similar design characteristics with the Mavic Pro and Mavic 2 series, though notable for its portability and overall small size. Its camera is on a three-axis gimbal and features a 12MP sensor capable of 2.7K video at 30 FPS. DJI announced the Mavic Mini on Octoas a replacement for the now discontinued DJI Spark and positioning it as a beginner camera drone.

Average monthly salon expenses8/11/2023 If you stayed on budget, you could take out all of those expenses - the booth rent, back bar, software charges, marketing, that kind of stuff - and you'd be left with $51,000.ĭoes that mean you made $51,000 this year? Nope. That means enough balayage and root touch-ups to equal $100,000. Let's say you made gross $100,000 working behind your chair this year. That doesn't mean you need to move salons it means you need to find a way to increase your income to get these ratios where they should be: by charging more or getting more butts in your chair. More often than not, the cost to rent a booth is closer to 20 - 30% of gross earnings, meaning you're not making enough money because the price of your booth is too high. Your take-home would be 51% of gross on this budget, and then taxes are deducted. All of that is 49% of your gross earnings if you are running a lean business. The cost to rent your booth, maintain your professional supplies and back bar, your marketing, your phone, your software, your bank charges, interest, your insurance. Your pre-tax take-home pay is 51% of your gross income. If you stay on the above budget, all you’ve done is pay to run your business you haven't even paid your taxes yet. For some of you who see a surplus in your take-home pay, it's probably because some of that should be invested in retail. Retail is a little bit of a separate calculation. Software (like an online booking system) - 2%īank charges and credit card interest – 2% Here’s how you should split your income as a booth renter if you want your take-home pay to be about 50%: But even today's top booth renters - the ones who run it really lean - are making 50% of their gross income. Lots of stylists go from commission to booth rent because they want to keep more of their money. Here are some hard numbers to compare your business to so you can see if you're on the right track. People usually don’t realize the financial commitment they're making until it's already done and they have to work their way out. Or when the water heater goes out, you as the salon owner have to pay thousands of dollars to get it repaired. Now the trouble is that we often underestimate what things will cost, like moving into a suite that costs $1500 more than you budgeted or paying more taxes as a booth renter than you did as a commissioned stylist. We're going to get way into the numbers so you can know if you’re budgeting correctly. Today, let’s talk about what it looks like financially as a booth renter or salon owner.
